Asteroid Class

Summer Term 2017

Asteroid Class have had an amazing year this year. They have been lucky enough to have 2 teachers and an amazing team to work with. The achievements of each child has been fantastic and I thought it would be lovey to identify a few great moments for each Asteroid Class member.

Cody has made amazing steps in his speech and tries hard every day to say what he wants.

Ethan has been so good this year with being adventurous when trying new foods. He is also interacting and playing games with adults in our class.

Callum has made huge progress in his maths work and is always keen to do his work and even requests more.

Nathan M has made huge improvements with his speech alongside the use of his ipad. He tries so hard in phonics to say all of his sounds and now is identifying digraphs.

Nathan R has improved hugely with his speech and is now communicating so much more and is generally more vocal.

Maria has increased in confidence this year and this has significantly helped with her learning. She tries very hard and it shows with her progress this year.

Amy has been super with her work this year especially in phonics for her reading. She is so confident and will read in front of the class now!

James has become so much more accepting with people saying his name. He has also worked very hard this year with his maths, especially  multiplication sums.

Nathaniel has worked super hard with his grammar work and now uses these new skills in his writing.

Ellie has made amazing progress in many areas this year but most impressively with her eating. Ellie is now eating at lunchtime with the rest of the class!

John has worked in maths this year and has made amazing progress. He is also listening very well in circle!

Well done everyone!

Asteroid Class have been a pleasure to teach this year and have enjoyed many things from trips out to arts and crafts, baking and planting alongside our learning. I will miss them terribly but wish them the best of luck in the future.

Spring Term 2017

Asteroid class this term we have been looking at Green Eggs and Ham in Literacy. We created our own funny coloured menu. Science we have been exploring reversible and irreversible changes. It has been interesting experiencing these materials changing, especially melting chocolate in different ways for example in our hands and in our mouths! As well as working hard in school we have enjoyed trips to look at lakes and rivers in our local community. We saw lots of wildlife in and around the ponds and lakes including ducks, swans and fish. During this term we have also been out in the community to a café and the town centre linked to our work in French. We wish you a Happy Easter and are all looking forward to the Summer Term.

Autumn Term 2016

It has been a great start to the year in Asteroid Class and we have all enjoyed  being back with our friends both old and new.  We have already been out and about in the community to local parks, where we have enjoyed playing with our friends as well as a trip to a local cafe.  We have also been shopping for snack and cookery ingredients, which has given us the opportunity to practise our 'real life' money skills.

In class we have been working really hard.  We really enjoyed the story 'Where the Wild Things Are' and created great 'wild thing' masks as well of thinking of some excellent describing words for the characters in this tale.  In science we are learning about 'The Earth and Beyond' and have been finding out about what life in space is like for an astronaut.  We all decided that everyday tasks would be very hard without gravity and that we really don't like space food either!

Recently we have been reading the book 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl , which we have all really enjoyed. Keystage 2 had the opportunity to go to G Live in Guildford and see the stage production of this tale. Our favourite part was seeing Grandma grow so tall after drinking her medicine that her head went through the roof of the house.  We have also been creating our own 'Marvellous Medicine', with some amazing results!

Just before Christmas we went out for a trip to Henry Street Garden Centre. We enjoyed looking at all of the beautiful Christmas displays and trees. However our favourite part was the aquatic centre. As well as watching the fish and other creatures in the tanks we had the opportunity to feed the enormous Koi Carp, which splashed and jumped about in the tank. For our lunch we went to McDonalds for a treat followed by bowling at Farnborough Leisure Centre.  We all had a great day as our end of term reward, doing the activities chosen by the pupils.  A big thank you to the PTA for funding our Christmas treat!
