Learning & achieving together

6th Form Earth Blue Group

This term in Blue class has been busy and exciting. We have finished our climate crisis project, which is now on show at Southampton city gallery and Sir Harold Hilliard Gardens. We have also worked hard making various items, which we sold at the Global Fair at Fernhill School.  The photo cards were very popular.  The photographs for the cards were created by our Blue group students, showing photos they took.

The garden party was a great success!  The atmosphere was lovely amongst the students, staff and of course the appreciative parents who attended.  All the students received a well-earned Governors certificate and an Oscar.  'A Night at the Movies' was the theme and it was a lovely celebration.

This year we are saying goodbye to two of our students in Blue class and we all wish them the very best in the next part of their lives.

I wish everyone a very restful summer break, and I look forward to September for another fun-filled year.

Just some one the fun things we have been doing this term.

Lots of adventures this term (in no particular order); Anti-pollution work, Burns' Night, Pancake day, Daffodil dissection, Alice Holt, Hampton Court, Governor's visit...

The City and Guilds group have had a busy and varied term (as always!)

Spring term has begun and our Integrated Pathway students are accessing the Hair and Beauty department at FCoT college; as one parent has commented, 'the next Vidal Sassoon?!'

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, from staff and students in Blue Group; Christmas Dinner provided by the Integrated Pathway, and after-dinner entertainment provided by City and Guilds

Autumn Term, 2021; it's been a busy term for both the City and Guilds group, and the Integrated Pathway, with a return to some semblance of normality...

Yoga Therapy sessions

This term, our Integrated Pathway students have been accessing weekly yoga therapy sessions with Nicole. Students have really benefited from activities that help them to self-regulate, relax, and begin to know their own bodies' needs.

Nicole is leaving us, and we all wish her well in her new adventures. Thank you, Nicole! from Blue Group x

Bluebury Music Festival - end of term celebrations!

Our Summer end-of-term project was making a hot air balloon; the photos show its maiden flight ...

City and Guilds have had a busy July; Work Experience at the museum, building up custom for their Window-Cleaning company, and then a whole week of life-skills based learning

City and Guilds best bits of April and May, as chosen by students. A mix of indoors and outdoors, practical tasks or classroom-based, but never a dull moment!

The Leavers' Garden Party was a lovely opportunity to say Goodbye to the students leaving us to go on new adventures - we wish them well for the future

On our first real Community trip; first stop, the coffee shop! Plenty of opportunities to practice social interactions, and develop communication skills

Following a Climate Crisis project, with Fernhill School and Green Group, we created a Totem Pole that explained the impact of tea plantations on deforestation. It was displayed in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral, along with many other schools' projects

Restricted offsite access has ensured LOTS of time to practice home skills!

6th Form students competed in their own mini Olympics - their favourite part was the final 'Lap of Honour!'

Happy Easter!! Summer is coming!! Blue Group have been very busy, through Lockdown, and on into March; we have found plenty to do, even though we cannot go offsite, just yet. We are looking forward to the Easter break, and then the Summer Term - when all of us will be together, once again

Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Safe New Year, from all the students and staff in Blue Group!

Autumn Term 2020

Welcome to the Autumn term, in the midst of a pandemic... We have been busy, creating our own 'new' normal, but learning just as much!

Summer Term 2020

Here are a sample of some of the activities of Blue Group students during Lockdown - they have been busy, wherever they are!

Welcome to Blue Group 2019 - 2020
Autumn 2019

PSHE has been about students developing hobbies and pastimes, as alternatives to the computer or internet-based activities; throughout the term, the class has explored puzzles, arts and crafts, singing and dancing, museums and historic buildings, and, of course, just chilling.

The Careers lessons have allowed students to explore aspects of specific careers. These have included Chef, Builder, Beauty Therapist and Florist.

Cookery is an important part of our students' lives; whether they are preparing a family meal for the whole class, or a snack lunch, individually, the skills ore vital in increasing their independence.

Creative Arts has seen students continuing to practice for the Coppers Award Show, and then when rehearsals had to cease due to the Coronavius, they worked on producing props and scenery, back in 6th Form

The PE focus, this term, has been Karate.

Work Experience has been busy, with students participating in a range of placements; Lunch Time Supervisor, Horticuluralist, Supermarket Assistant, Delivery Person, etc

Our students are fortunate to be taking part in the Copper Award show on 27th March 2020

Students from our 6th Form along with their peers from Farnborough 6th Form College will be taking part.
